In the same manner as screen resolution, you can choose the pixel density - which affects Opera Mobile’s default zoom factor and devicePixelRatio - using the dropdown menu in the Pixel Density section.
You can also create your own custom resolutions using the Add button, and delete the existing ones using the Remove button. The screen resolution can be changed by choosing between the different options in the Resolution dropdown menu. Mobile phones and tablets come in varying shapes and sizes. When you’re all set, select the Add button under the profile selection box, choose a name for the new profile, and save it to the list. If you want to create a new profile, select the Custom option from the profile list and set the relevant options for Resolution, Pixel Density, User Interface, User Agent String, Window Scale, and Arguments. You can then start an Opera Mobile instance using the selected profile by clicking on the Launch button.

The Profile Selector comes preconfigured with a series of popular phone and tablet device profiles, such as Samsung Galaxy S III, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and HTC One X. Here we will discuss the different options available in the Profile Selector.
This Profile Selector allows you to spawn different instances of Opera Mobile on your desktop to accurately test different phone configurations, as seen in Figure 3. When you first open the Opera Mobile Emulator, you’re presented with the Profile Selector - see Figure 2.

That is kind of expensive for a glass sticker, especially if Luckey makes the driver a free download. The Nums panels are available for between $32 and $45 on Kickstarter, depending on the size of your computer’s trackpad. (Luckey is apparently working on Nums for Microsoft’s Surface line next.) The Kickstarter page notes that it hopes to develop Nums for other computers in the future, but the non-standard size of Windows trackpads make that difficult. And Luckey claims that the Nums panel won’t effect your regular trackpad use, which is definitely a good thing.įor now, the company is only working on Nums pads for the 13-inch MacBook Air, the 12-inch MacBook, and Retina MacBook Pros built after 2012. Nums is built out of a 0.26mm thick piece of glass, with metallic ink used for the numbers that’s designed to reflect the light from the display for use in the dark. Nums creator Luckey is also developing a driver for Apple’s computers that allows users to quickly switch the trackpad to number-entry mode, as well as open the calculator app and even serve as a quick launcher for websites or other applications. Obviously, just sticking some numbers onto your trackpad won’t turn it into a number pad. But if you’re someone who does some serious number crunching, Nums might be able to help.Ĭurrently looking for funding on Kickstarter, Nums is essentially a giant glass panel that attaches to the top of your MacBook’s multi-touch trackpad, adding an overlay for a traditional numpad along with a few quick launch gestures. In fact, none of Apple’s MacBooks have ever had one.
